Police handing in guns because they're not allowed to shoot people
This woke nonsense is going too far...
Imagine you work your entire life to fulfil your dream of being an armed cop, and when your colleague does what you assumed was your job - shoot a black man in a car - they get arrested and charged with murder. This is the reality facing Metropolitan Police officers who’ve been handing in their gun permits and refusing to do their jobs, much to the relief of London’s minorities.
One unlucky police officer executed drill artist Chris Kaba at what he thought was just an ordinary day at work, and now he is facing trial. It’s a dark day for justice when the people who are supposed to be above the law can be held accountable for their actions.
Unfortunately, the shooting happened before the spy cops bill gave officers the power to murder with impunity, and partygate established the Met can investigate crimes retroactively. The whole situation is a mess.
Police complained they make “split-second decisions” about shooting civilians and it’s unfair to hold them accountable when they hit the target. If someone in McDonald’s can mess up your order, police should get a free pass when they kill people, otherwise we’re holding them to unrealistic standards. Next we’ll be telling pilots they can’t get drunk and crash aeroplanes into mountains.
In the case of Chris Kaba, a “split-second decision” involved undercover police pursuing the car he was driving without activating their lights or sirens, waiting until he stopped at a road block and shooting him dead.
In response to the charges, hundreds of police officers handed in their gun permits and effectively went on strike (striking is only bad when exploited workers do it). There is now concern their response could be considered proof they never needed gun permits in the first place.
Officers concerned about the latest outbreak of “woke nonsense” have submitted important questions to the Independent Office for Police Conduct such as: Are we still allowed to randomly harass black teens? Are we even allowed to plant drugs on people anymore? Is it acceptable for us to stalk attractive women? Can we strip search anyone we want to, or is this frowned upon? And most importantly, can we slam women onto the ground at candle-lit vigils to punish them for protesting when police rape and murder women?
If the answer to these questions is “no”, many officers will be left wondering what the point of remaining in the police force is. I mean wokeness is ruining everything.
One police officer said: “It was bad enough when they jailed the officer who raped and murdered Sarah Everard, the one we nicknamed ‘the rapist’ while we worked alongside him for three years, but now they’re telling us we can’t even kill members of drill rap groups because we don’t like their music.”
Another officer said: “What happens when there is another Jean Charles de Menezes? Are we supposed to not shoot him in the head when we’ve got him pinned down and handcuffed? This woke nonsense is going too far.”
The execution of Chris Kaba was fully supported by home secretary Suella Braverman, but Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has demanded killings by the police fall by 10% over the next five years.
Even worse, officers were not supported by Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley who recently suggested several hundred police officers need to be sacked. If you want to know who that several hundred are, Sir Mark, it’s the ones who didn’t go on strike when they were told “no more murder”. They are obviously wrong ‘uns.
Now that the officers most fond of murder have handed in their gun permits, there is worry that London could become a normal UK city. This possibility is too horrifying to contemplate so you will be relieved to hear the army is on standby, should the killing rate fall to unacceptable levels x

Back here in these United States of America, it's not really possible to write satirical riffs on police departments operating as murder gangs. They openly advertise it:
'In L.A. County, Gangs Wear Badges' (SEPT. 4, 2020)/ New York Magazine/Intelligencer
https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/09/l-a-county-sheriffs-department-has-a-gang-problem.html
"The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department... an entire law-enforcement entity whose members regularly join criminal gangs, earn clout by harassing, assaulting, and killing county residents, and retaliate against their colleagues who dare to oppose them."

'White Supremacist Links to Law Enforcement Are an Urgent Concern' (SEPT. 1, 2020)/ Brennan Center
https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/analysis-opinion/white-supremacist-links-law-enforcement-are-urgent-concern
"Since 2000, law enforcement officials with alleged connections to white supremacist groups or far-right militant activities have been exposed in Alabama, California, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Virginia, Washington, and West Virginia, among other states...
Law enforcement officials actively affiliating with white supremacist and far-right militant groups pose a serious threat to people of color, religious minorities, LGBTQ people, and anti-racist activists. But the police response to nationwide protests that followed the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, includes a number of law enforcement officers across the country flaunting their affiliation with far-right militant groups."

Considering police departments the US and UK are by no means as routinely violent as law enforcement in nations like Myanmar, and there remains some pretense of the courts , sometimes, for some people, abiding by the strictures of the law (unlike say, Russia of Saudi Arabia), it raises a question-
Can policing anywhere ever operate consistently in the best interest of the citizenry?
A few hundred years of experience with 'modern policing' suggests otherwise.
As the McPherson report stated over 20 years ago, the Met Police is institutionally racist (classist and sexist) and it seems, it's written into the law that it remain institutionally racist (and classist and sexist), so there!
