You knew there was a world out there even if it is hard to fathom when you live in the US or the West.
You were supposed living in a free world and, thus, having access to the world literature.
Let's not go that far. You know how to read, you are supposed to be able to know there are American authors who tried to reach people like you to give you another version of what you were taught.
Howard Zinn (just to name one) is one of them. He wrote "A people's history of American empire" so you know your real history, but you probably were not interested.
I know, it takes a lot of energy to move away from the path that was plotted for you, but now you know. What are you going to do with this? Are you going to let your grand children or your friends/neighbours' grand children the truth?

Bit the % directly involved is greater in Israel. The must do national (IDF) service. They ARE the oppressors. And their families are all connected. People are leaving Isreal in droves.
And many of them are coming here (the US). Someone in my hometown told me that their weekly anti-genocide demonstration is starting to be harassed and threatened by recently arrived Israelis. I don’t want to be discriminatory but this is disturbing. They’re living up to their reputation for arrogance; I feel sorry for the decent ones.

What you don't understand, Laura, is that we Jews are always and in perpetuity, the victim, the metaphysical essence of victimhood.
We can only hope the whole of the IDF feel the same way and follow his lead.

On October 8th, I saw an interview with a former IDF border guard, who was explaining to the interviewer the same ideas that this former soldier has shared with us. She said that if even a cat came near that border all the alarms would go off and then she too listed all of the missing soldiers, holes in the barrier etc that he's so clearly enunciated. Since that time, I have believed exactly what he said. Netanyahu was on his way to jail and since historically zionists have always wanted to get rid of Palestinians and use the Gaza strip for their own developmen t he knew that even though most Israelis hated him personally, they would all gather around and support this hideous October 7th incursion into israel. What interests me, however, is that this idea of an inside job has never made it to even the most pro Palestinian media. It is still being sold to us as a breach and not as a deliberate action. Perhaps it is too hard to believe that even a man such as netanyahu could conceive of such a tragedy.
I’m confused. Did Mizrahi share food and water with the Palestinians before or after he crushed them with his bulldozer? And was the food he gave them the meat of the people he killed? One has to feel sorry for him…
