"Imagine being accused of a serious crime and appointing the people who investigate you." Hmmm. Sounds like what Israel does all the time. Could they be implicated in the newly renamed "Trump-Epstein files"?

Rebel Nun's avatar

I’m certain they are. Epstein was a Mossad agent, as was Ghislaine Maxwell’s father. 🔥

Baz's avatar

If only Wikileaks had gotten hold of those files.

Ah yes, Trump is another person who thinks being creepy is a personality trait. Bold strategy.

Another ridiculous spectacle by this sadly and ridiculously corrupted Presidency 🫡

Reductio ad absurdum is such a clever idea. Usually works.

It looks like every other government document dump over the last 100 years - that is if they even agree to make materials available.

Expecting anything else is the height of naivete.

Frances Kay's avatar

Ah, you wicked cynic... all you have to do at this festive time is to believe firmly in the Christmas fairy, who comes at night and with her fairy pen erases all unChristmassy thoughts and deeds. The reason Trump keeps falling asleep during top-level meetings is because he stays up real late to help with fairy with her work, so we can all sleep easy in our beds. There is nothing so Christmassy as a page covered in black redactions - have you never heard of Rudolph, the Redacted News Reindeer?

Call me a Cassandra. Again. I predicted this, and everyone laughed at me.

NonZionistWorld's avatar

Millions, if not billions knew this was going to happen, it's not 'rocket science' to know this would be the outcome. The prediction markets also showed.

The endless obfuscation and denialism of Trump and his handlers about the Epstein files -- and pretty much everything else -- would be getting pretty tedious by now, if Laura from Normal Island were not here to entertain us, along this ghastly journey, by reframing the obsfuscations so imaginatively and amusingly.

.

Johnny Rodriguez's avatar

My friend, we all know by now you are an academic at this point. That level of reporting is not about entertainment, it is a pure genius and I know one when I see one

Shall we make some noise or go along with the Christmas spirit - that spirits were indoctrinated in the 1950s with a new and improved consumer approach to Christmas?

Sean Bodhivajra Scanlan's avatar

.

Johnny, I'll defer to Laura herself as to whether she thinks she is entertaining or not. That she is able to elicit humor from an environment of such poisonous conduct by the world's leaders shows a remarkable capacity of some kind.... skill, talent, intelligence. Sure. Or genius, if you prefer.

In any case, no one is suggesting that Laura's essays are frivolous in intent. Well, I'm not, at any rate.

I don't know where Christmas comes into all of this, but okay, if you like.

.

Johnny Rodriguez's avatar

Genius. I insist.

You appear to use the Oxford dictionary as a weapon of sorts. Desperate times, desperate measures.

It is always Christmas somewhere, the elasticity of time and such. Each article from this blog seems like Christmas in a way.

Ain't misbehaving, however, since you appear to be a man crafty with the words what would you suggest shall we do about the state of affairs around here?

3i Atlas is easy. As it was explained by Roscosmos, this entity is out of our galaxy trespassing without a worry in the world, with its surface and behavior pattern rather unusual but still millions of miles away.

Sean Bodhivajra Scanlan's avatar

.

LOL, Johnny: using… "…the Oxford dictionary as a weapon of sorts." Very good. Yes, I won't quarrel with you, either, I think. After all, I believe that you and I share common cause against the evils of the age, do we not?

.

"What shall we do about the state of affairs around here?" An excellent question.

.

Well, I'm in the process, actually, of trying to craft a response of sorts to precisely that question, an effort I have been pursuing for some time.

In fact, I'm attempting to use classical rhyming meter poetry as a sort of scaffolding by which to set forth some of my key ideas in a highly condensed way that could then be expanded and elaborated on.

.

Your timing in posing this question to me is remarkable, because I just today published an article on my Substack newsletter addressing precisely this question, because I am about to publish five poem-essays once every day for the next five days that tackle this question somewhat.

.

The five poem essays in question (each of which are about 10-15 verses long individually) comprise the backbone of what will ultimately be an approximately 1,000-verse extended narrative poem that is attempting to answer precisely the question that you posed to me.

May I recommend that you consider reading the essay – and quite possibly the succeeding five poems that will be published over the next five days? I will append the link to the article for you below.

.

Oh, and yes, the comet looks harmless enough, I guess. We are facing much more dangerous threats closer to home, I think.... Sean.

I apologize if I ever came up combative of sorts. Please forgive me I am one of those people who watches Amazon Prime instead of .. well, bettering myself by doing something creative... technically the night is still young and I might come up with something ... I usually do... However, it hurts my feelings to say it but I am happy for you. For every time it is art, and the poetic take on life is very much technically acceptable, envy, envy me. You still need to heavily edit your print on Substack - poems on one side, the social issues on the other side of the Moon river.

Again, it pains me to say but in the times like these it takes a family jewels to come up with something poetic or creative. DO Not re-stack it, that will ruin my reputation of take no prisoners, no-no-nosense personality.

Sean Bodhivajra Scanlan's avatar

.

No worries, Johnny. …about the combative posture, that is. As long as a combative stance does not become unrelenting, it can have something to contribute to a dialogue.

.

And, by the way, in spite of my close attention to words -- and, yes, you're right, an academic background -- I have also spent a lot of time in the trenches, earning my living in what you might call working class jobs; something I have a lot of respect for.

.

{I think a surprisingly large number of academics end up doing that, actually – during all those long years earning academic degrees, one has to work during vacations and on the weekends and in the evenings, in order to pay for one’s education, or at least one’s living quarters. And, unless you are incredibly lucky, you end up working a lot of those jobs after earning the degrees also.

.

The academic life is a hard life in the U.S., actually and, for the vast majority of academics, one of the lowest paid professions in the country. The upside is that maybe one can spend a fair portion of one’s time in the company of people like Plato and Aristotle. The downside is that economically – and socially, in a way – academics live on the lowest tier of U.S. society.

.

And, as for Amazon Prime, well the only reason I don’t watch it is because I don't want to give my money away to Jeff Bezos. instead, I use Plex or Tubi or YouTube, and I also borrow DVD's from the public library, which has the two benefits of keeping my money in my pocket and also not giving it to JB.

.

But, apart from my cheapskate techniques for economizing, yeah, one of my favorite ways to relax is to kick back and watch a good show on TV. It helps me to wind down, actually, from intellectual analysis and take it easy.

.

Now, If I understand you correctly, you're suggesting that the social critique and the poetry possibly belong in publishing formats, is that right? Interesting you should say that, I'm thinking of splitting my single newsletter into three newsletters, with something of that nature in mind, early in the New Year.

.

In the meantime, I hope you will consider taking a look at my recent article and at the forthcoming poems and letting me know what you think, by and by.

.

Oh, and, as you asked, I won't restack.

.

FRANKLY ANY CREDIBILITY THAT TRUMP MIGHT HAVE ENJOYED UP UNTIL NOW IS LITERALLY IN THE SHREDDER. BY IMPLICATION HIS SUPPORTERS ARE EVERY BIT AS GUILTY OF AIDING AND ABETTING TRUMP’S PEDOPHILIA.

Just the title alone suggests two things:

1. The DoJ is kissing Sir Cheeto’s ass really good and,

2. The Orange Overlord is as guilty as fuck!

Rebel Nun's avatar

The first thing Cheato did was to fire everyone powerful in the DoJ and replace them with his incompetent sycophants. So yeah…

Pasqual Allen's avatar

So corrupt. How do you redact all of that. So basically they said we’ll release the files. It will just all be redacted.

Lenny Cavallaro's avatar

I expected nothing more. Michael Cohen called this "Fifty Shades of Black Marker," and I cannot think of a more apt description.

Rebel Nun's avatar

The files are not really necessary; they’ve been a distraction and a delay tactic all along. The evidence is there, is enough to convict, is overwhelming, and is public. Here, for example, is all you need to know, and way more than you ever wanted to; pass it on - everyone with strong nerves should force themselves to hear all of it: (if any idiot claims it’s fake, point out that it’s from 2016 and minutes 12:20 to 16:38 are horrifyingly prophetic of 2025)

Sex trafficking. Multibillion dollar industry. Clients: MEN

Prostitution. Huge business. Clients: MEN

Pedophilia, incest, and child porn: MEN

Date rape, unconscious woman rape: MEN

If MEN can't get sex they feel entitled to take it.

Woman: "I've been raped!"

Men: "Liar!"

I don't why people don't believe women! David Carrick the elite policeman in the UK raped more than 12 women before anyone bothered to investigate him.

They all reported to the police the same story: he threatened them with a gun, cuffed them under his stairs, multiple raped and pee'd on them. Then said "You're a hairdresser (or whatever) and I am a cop. Who is gonna believe you?"

Took 14 women complaining over years before the cops investigated.

Look at Crosby. All the women who went to the cops said the same thing. Cosby gave them tea and when they woke up he was doing up his zipper or he was on top of them. Took over 60 women complaining.

This shit has been going on since Adam stole the apple and blamed eve.

Genocide, trillions for war, privatisation (theft of a nations resources by billionaires ), global warming, inequality. The USAs DEI policies which ensure people of colour, competent women, the disabled, veterans, gays, minorities, & anyone "non standard" sexually work as min-wage slaves, be deported, trafficked, incarcerated, or die.

Rape with impunity, and especially child rape ...

This is one of many injustices that make me furious!

These habits of elite men in govt, business and military have been just out of site for generations but are coming into view, finally. They have a constant “need” for continuous and over-turning “supply” of women and it is a primary driver in their lives. But note that someone had a banner saying that no Muslims are in the Epstein files. That may mean something, if some people on this planet retain a moral compass. The Pedofile certainly does not.

I’ve never heard the human condition wrapped up better. Thank you, Susan.

"Those redactions are protecting the real victims: hard-working billionaires."

You're darn right those "victims" need protection! We can't have the reputation of our loyal masters, the billionaires, dragged through the mud with all these accusations of molesting children. What would the world be like without billionaires and pedophiles? I shudder to think!
