Another comic tour de force! Luckily, current events are supplying an endless stream of appalling characters doing ghastly things to keep your genius alive and well - so please keep the readers chuckling [otherwise we'll burst into tears]....

I have a confession to make. I don't call it Twitter. Nor do I call it X. I pronounce the X as if it was Chinese (sh) and drop the first two letters of Twitter ;)

So do I.... Xitter is also great in writing!

"The former City of London trader who wears a tweed jacket and has a picture of Margaret Thatcher on his wall" — "who wants to ban milkshakes and give (Musk's) businesses a massive tax cut" — "is definitely looking out for the little man."

"The leader of the BNP, I mean UKIP, I mean the Brexit Party, I mean the Reform Party," who's "so popular it only took him about 17 tries, and several parties, to become an MP."

________

Even as Laura gives us the most brilliantly concise description of Farage that I've ever seen, I'm more certain than ever, that Musk's money can pave his way into number 10.

Farage had one hoof in the door, the moment the Labour Party overlords' campaign of backstabbing & defamation, succeeded in robbing the labour base of Corbyn & replacing him with Starmer.

Starmer was installed to block Corbyn, not the fascists. Just like Biden was installed to block Sanders, not Trump.

All it takes for the enthusiastically-evil party to win, is for the supposedly-good party to betray the public. To convince people that "they're all the same." To be so aggressively corrupt, shamelessly hypocritical & unscrupulously authoritarian, that the base turns away.

A shamelessly corrupt PM — who's happy to be seen selling out for glasses, copying every Tory policy he once criticized, and prosecuting peace activism & truthful reporting, as "terrorism" — isn't just part of the problem; he's on the other team. SIR Kier Starmer has NEVER been on labour's side.

It's never going to matter how bad the other party is; no one (including their base) expects any degree of decency from them. Let alone social responsibility. None of that matters to a far-right base.

What matters is that an aggressively-beige, Bullingdon-approved, toff-wannabe, has used the position he hijacked, to rob Labour (the party) of all credibility, and rob labour (the base) of any options. Integrity DOES matter to a left-leaning base.

Fascism was on its way to Downing Street, the moment Labour Party overlords aggressively defamed Corbyn & sicked Starmer on the labour base. Just like Trumpism was on its way back into the White House, the moment Democratic Party overlords (openly) conspired to hijack the 2020 primaries, to block Sanders & shove Biden down the throats of the democratic base.

Correct! US ashamed citizen here. It's truly abysmal. So sorry. 😞

Great stuff - are you Laura’s little sister? 😉

I'm not worthy, but I love that alternate reality❣️

If Scotland becomes Independent after Musk buys Britain, it will go down considerably in value. What's not to like?

Rebel Nun's avatar

Maybe Musk is buying the UK so he can move there, after realizing that the American resistance has moved beyond milkshakes…

!!! Will Australia follow? Shit, I'll have to find a triple citizenship if that's the case.

It's not "deportation," it's "rightsizing."

But Scotland already sold to Donald Trump

What are you taking about man. The guy has or had a golf course in Scotland, tried to sweet talk some into allowing him planning rights or something, which were rejected, your comment is just idiotic.

Wow it's getting hot in here 😳

In *Henry IV, Part One* Prince Hal notes of Falstaff, "Were 't not for laughing, I should pity him."

This presentation of the Musk "takeover" is so strikingly realistic, that were it not for the humor and biting satire, we should weep!

I believe that Elon Musk is a fraud.

J C's avatar

He is. My view is that these gazillionaires don't really like tRump. They're after picking the final meat off the US body politic.

Seattle resident. I've been around some.

Isn't it the case some corporations in the US wanted to have the right to vote? Not sure if they succeeded but now they are about to control the country anyway it seems, yikes.

Great article, thanks Laura.

Rebel Nun's avatar

They succeeded not in being able to vote but in being able to influence elections through money. More power than voting. We continue to try to overturn that ruling.

J C's avatar

Citizens United, Jan. 2010 Supreme Creeps decision made corporations people which unleashed the money as free speech. It's absurd.

Don't tell Lone Skum, the Dodgy Doge of Venice, but I doubt the UK is worth £78 now that the City of London has drained us dry and scarpered to Astana in Kazakhstan.

What me? Insider info? NEVER....

You might consider following her, to keep up with the shit show in England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Her satire, coupled with that "typical" British sense of humour is really quite brilliant, (but ssshh, don't tell her I said that) ...

I think it is right up your alley, in fact, I am sure you are secretly a British double-agent on a protection programme living in the US .....lol

bluePNWcats's avatar

😄😄😄 somehow I missed the last part of that until just now when I was re reading it. No worries. There are no armed security forces currently en route to your home as a consequence of blowing my cover. None at all.

Anthony Brooks-Sands's avatar

I am not worried, I am on a protection programme living in Germany .....haha

You need to be, if you want to stay sane and as far away as possible from all the madness going on in the UK ....

In fact, as soon as I have the money I will be applying for the German Citizenship, which they offered me after the Brexit fuck up ......

And that is the truth 🙌🏻
