I’m gratified that you laggards in the UK are catching up with us here in the US, where we have already thrown all asylum seekers into the sea, where the judiciary has been declared irrelevant, and where demanding “peace” is antisemitic but claiming that genocide is a fine old Jewish tradition is not. Dame Sue Carr is right. Politicians cannot make up the law on the hoof to suit themselves as may be expedient for the situation in question, including their personal popularity/credibility. There is a process for changing laws that they must observe.
Heck, we don't let little things such as "the law" get in the way of removing (deporting) immigrants who are legally in the US, so why should we let mere facts get in the way of which groups we wish to discriminate against and toss in the ocean? Am I right? *satire*
