I used to work for a firm that had government contracts for removing 'smart' features in TV and monitors. Many smart TVs have microphones and cameras.
And for god's sake don't ever give a small child an internet connected toy. Many of them have been reported for having spyware in them as from the factory.
100% and it's also advisable to cover your device cameras with black tape. I've done this for quite some time. There's a few good things that can be done;
Use a non-smart (dumb) phone.
Use a Chinese smart (dumb) device. They seriously don't care like the Zio authoritarian ‘west’ who you are!
Stop using locations, stop using Google Maps, much better and ‘safer’ map apps like Magic Earth.
Stop using a smart (dumb) watch, use a counter for steps, running etc. Plus seriously folks majority of people don't need an app that records your every move from walking, running, period cycles, stress levels etc!
Use open source on your devices, it's not difficult and lots of demo's on how to switch from the dark big brother side.
Wipe all your personal data from social media apps, or better still shut down!
