I am in the US but back in 2012 I had a doctor refuse to sign disability forms for me because I was “too young and pretty” to be disabled (I was in my early 40s and had been working 25 years already so idk) and “How can you be disabled when even Steven Hawking worked?” That made me laugh in his face. I asked him if he thought I had the same brain and skills as Steven Hawking. He ignored my question. I got a new doctor.

I also had a PCP refuse to diagnose me with MECFS because “there’s nothing we can do about it” and then a specialist confirm I have MECFS but he doesn’t diagnose it and has no idea who does because the one guy in Boston retired.

Is it any wonder I ended up homeless before I got checks from the SSA?

Just say no to bad doctors! Find better ones! I’ve stopped worrying about hurting their feelings. This is what we get in the US with capitalist medicine: only rich kids can go to medical school, and it’s largely kids who want to get rich who become doctors. You’re young and pretty! Don’t take their bullying!

Hi RB

You’re stereotyping.

Granted, this was in the late 60’s/early 70’s. My brother worked his way through medical school. My parents ( middle class but definitely not rich) helped as much as they could. My brother’s wife worked and contributed as well.

Brother is exceptionally intelligent, as well as compassionate and prescient. He put his talents to good use. His patients thought the world of him.

HE was the kind of individual who SHOULD have gone into medicine. Yes, he’s now relatively wealthy but why shouldn’t he be, after years of the phone ringing in the middle of the night because one of his patients required him?

I realized from him that a doctor’s life is very difficult. A good doctor deserves compensation for his hard, hard work.

I certainly didn’t mean to imply that all doctors or all med school aspirants are rich, or money-mad, or undeserving. I’ve had friends and relatives (and personal doctors) who are the opposite of all those things. But like many of us, especially women, I’ve had many bad experiences like Maggie’s with entitled, bullying doctors, and the older I get, the more women I know who need medical care and avoid getting it because of their similar experiences. Also, I went to a university that was famous for its medical school and became painfully aware of the phenomenon I described of avaricious and/or rich kids dominating the profession. I thank your brother and his ilk for his good work, but we need to make some changes in this country. ❤️

Hi RB

I suggest a female doctor who would probably be more compassionate and understanding of your needs… not to say that there aren’t male doctors who wouldn’t be so.

My doctors are absolutely wonderful. I live between two cities that are known for excellent medical facilities: Flint and Lansing.

I was treated for breast cancer over 20 years ago, with no reoccurrence 🙂

Yes, it’s a good idea to gravitate toward women docs! Although I’ve had a few bad ones, too. My PCP right now is a wonderful young man from Pakistan. 🪷 I’m sending you good good thoughts for your continued health into a ripe old age of speaking Truth to Power! ☀️

A great article and so sadly realistic.

Step 1. Kill and disable as many poor and vulnerable people with a toxic vaccine and midazolam and morphine.

Step 2. Use poverty to starve to death the disabled survivors.

Step 3. Launder all our money straight into MP's pockets via Ukraine.

Step 4. Euthanise anybody still alive.

Step 5. Dance on their graves.

Step 6. Go to Hell to meet their biggest fan, Satan.

It's not all about death- Musk wants us to make lots of babies, as long as we're careful that they're white ones. The fake pandemic wasn't about depopulation, it was about making lots of money and convincing everyone of a Dan Brown style evil cabal of old money who faked climate change in order to control us with green policies.

Our masters (BlackRock and Blackstone, who fund tech, arms, fossil fuel and animal ag (pharma's biggest client)) want us to ignore the climate crisis so they gave us KS SquarePants, Bill Gates and Tony Blair to hate instead of them.

They don't want us dead- unless you're useful to feed into the meat grinder- they want us fat, sick and on drugs. The burden on society will of course very shortly become impossible, and coupled with a debilitating war with China and the climate crisis itself, things ain't looking too rosy for anyone.

Amaterasu Solar's avatar

What climate crisis? They're microwaving the air to create the illusion of "crisis."

Gawd. I hadn’t heard that one yet. Is this sarcasm? Otherwise the ridiculous propaganda is obviously working well.

Shall We ignore the evidence and cling to the idea that Humanity is a problem on Our planet? Never mind it could support 1,000 times the People here today. Never mind that the moneyed psychopaths in control need excuses to kill Us, and get Us into 15 minute prisons, eating bugs, with CBDC's and social credit scores to control Us with, neuralinked like Borg...

Many scientists are coming out stating that the "climate crisis" is bunk.

But what? It thrills You to think We're killing the planet? (Hint: it's not Humanity but the moneyed psychopaths in control who pollute and blame Us.)

You might want to...

Benefit Fraud = £1.6 bn/year

Unclaimed Benefits = £17 bn/year

Tax Avoidance = £122 bn/year

TAX the RICH

Rebel Nun's avatar

Musk ALONE should pay that much in taxes to the UK, and as much again to the US. Without the tricks of the privileged, he would have to.

Baz's avatar

How much does Trident cost?

Rebel Nun's avatar

£12 billion at the time, estimated equivalent today £23 billion. But without it, Iceland would strike!

Baz's avatar

Yes Rebel, it’s an exclusive club turns out quite expensive nowadays to be a world power. Ironic that it’s a totally un democratic method dreamt up to defend ‘democracy’. The strangest part for the proud British military is it can’t even be used without you know who’s say so.

Oh, and I seem to remember

lesser regimes can be ‘changed’ for the merest suggestion that they may have WMD.

Awesome Laura!

Unique Laura style:

"no one will be denied the option of escaping starvation… as long as they can afford the euthanasia fee"

"Yes, we’re privatising death, just like we privatised everything in life!"

Brilliant as ever - and utterly depressing.

Trump has been so successful in making everyone hysterical and in bullying people that the formerly hated olive wearing Zelensky is now getting hugs. This was deliberate. Trump is also pretending to make a deal with Putin so that he not only looks good but also gets the NATO members to increase their contribution from 2% to 5% to pull their weight- spending this money on US based arms of course.

Which means less money for social services and if you complain about it, it means that you're a hateful person who doesn't care about Ukrainians.

It also means that you object to your sons being fed feet first into the meat grinder because the US has run out of Ukrainian sons.

Uncaring and unpatriotic, shame on you.

Baz's avatar

To satire the Labour government now is almost cruel, really it should be humanely euthanised.

Baz's avatar

Paradigm shift in ‘democracy’ required wouldn’t you say?

Something progressive, demilitarised and truly democratic would be nice.

Not too much to ask for is it?

Im disabled with 2 lots of tumours and literally in bed crying at this today. Aktion T4 labour party

Jill Azzouzi's avatar

Thats why im crying. I cant believe it.

Lisa's avatar

Neither can I.

I didn't expect a shred of humanity from the saboteur that hijacked the Labour Party in order to rob working class people of any representation, but even my expectations proved too high for "Sir" Keir Starmer to meet.

Starmer didn't just fail to deliver humanity; he eagerly delivered a surfeit of depravity.

Starmer (and his accomplices) can't be swayed by reason, because they're not confused; their harm is intentional.

Starmer (and his accomplices) have to be REMOVED.

The Labour Party is meant to represent NORMAL people, who live within the NORMAL set of parameters — where they work as long as they can, but they sometimes get hurt, or sick — and THAT Labour Party has to be RECLAIMED. Right now.

An election won't do, because the other parties are right wing, and a lot of people can't wait that long. There has to be a revolution within the Labour Party.

Starmer (just like Biden) is intentionally aiding & abetting the far-right. If Starmer is allowed to finish this term, Farage will be the next dog unleashed on the British public.

I want to see Starmer sued for his defamation of Corbyn & other genuine servants of the British public. I want to see Starmer imprisoned for corruption, and for perpetrating a fraud against the British public.

Performative cruelty is a great vote winner in England. If you don't give people someone vulnerable to hate then you simply won't be elected.

A Labour government that is more pro-war than the Israel States of America. I never thought i would see the day, especially as our previous leader Jeremy Corbyn was such a great man.

Mr. Orwell Tried to warn you, he tried to warn all of us that this was coming like a freight train. Yet what you are experiencing in the UK is much like what we are seeing here in the USA. Entrenched Politicos who are fiercely fighting populist leaders and their own citizens who are trying to bend the direction of these monsters intentions. These Politicos are all stealing from the system in one way or another.

President Eisenhower warned Americans about the rise of "the Military Industrial Complex", but what is not well known is that the first draft of the General's speech more accurately called this evil cabal "the Congressional-Military-Industrial Complex"; a much more succinct definition of these co-conspirators. The President's advisors told him that this term would make too many enemies and it was changed to leave the US Congress out of view within this corrupt trinity.

There are numerous examples of the members of the US Congress becoming unbelievably and mysteriously wealthy upon election to office. How does this happen? Graft and corruption are the obvious answers. All the while these same people recoil in horror when any attempt is made to stop obvious misuse of taxpayer funds, both foreign and domestic. Why else would the new DOGE in the USA be so viciously attacked and condemned?

How else do the Political Elites of a nation like the USA justify spending nearly $1 TRILLION USD on so called "defense" and another $1 TRILLION USD on Debt Service? All the while regular citizens from all walks of life are asked to make more and more sacrifices. The real truth behind the problem is that we do not have a revenue and taxation problem: we have a spending, corruption and accountability problem of monumental proportions. Unfortunately, for the individual citizens; accountability of any sort is VERY unpopular in the Parliament, just as it certainly is in the US Congress.

Jennifer Akdemir's avatar

Unfortunately too, the populists work for the same people as the Labdems and the Reptors.

Well done, and sums up the US as well. Why not? We're your offspring.
