The UK Labour Party has morphed into far-right extremists it seems.

Are they so desperate to cling to power that they believe they have to use Nigel Farage’s talking points and overtake him by moving even further to the right? Somewhere even the right side of the political spectrum ends and Labour might (deservedly) fall of the cliff and into oblivion.

Wait, is this real?

"Outrageously, a refugee took a 250-mile taxi ride to a GP appointment and I’m sure this is representative of all refugee taxi rides. If the refugee was given a GP 250 miles away from where he lives, he should bloody well walk!"

They were "given a GP 250 miles away" from their home or place of residence? I don't claim to know much about the system over in "Jolly Old England", but it is a really f**ked up system that would "assign" a Doctor this far removed from any patients home. Or is that perfectly normal with your health care system?

The whole thing stinks to high heaven.

From the article (which is even scarier than your post):

“Now the government has confirmed it has spent an average of around £15.8 million per year on transport for asylum seekers”.

That’s nothing! Here in the US, we’ve spent BILLIONS transporting asylum seekers! By airplane! To El Salvador! And God knows where else, because they won’t tell us. Or their families.

AuDHD AllyCat's avatar

Don't forget the UK government did TRY to spend billions transporting asylum seekers to Rwanda a while back.

I knew you are not prone to "making Shit up" , but this just sounded so damn stupid, that it had to be made up, either that, or a genius government policy.

Heck, even here in the USA an undocumented person can show up at any Public Hospital and the law says that they MUST be treated or transported to another hospital to be treated regardless of their ability to pay or their immigration status.

Rebel Nun's avatar

Right now they can’t, or don’t, because they are afraid that ICE will be there waiting for them. It’s an empire of hate and it’s a metastatic turbo cancer.

As it should be.

Just remember. All these savings are put to good use. Like supporting the Zionists! How long are the Brits going to put up with this?

so if you can’t deport them kill them 🤦🏻‍♂️

Paul Baker's avatar

Will they be allowed to travel to hospital in an emergency? If they are disabled are they expected to walk (or crawl) to the appointment which is often miles away?

Rebel Nun's avatar

In the article it says there will be exemptions, but it sounds difficult, and Shabana says she’s closing their hotels, so if they have to sleep in the street, it might as well be in front of their doctors’ offices. Problem solved.

Making remaining alive dedicated government policy …. 🤢🤢🤢

Elizabeth Chandler's avatar

I should have said “making it impossible to remain alive “ as dedicated government policy . There is more humanity and common decency in a lump of granite .

Next they’ll ban asylum seekers from entering hospitals. Instead they should go directly to the nearest funeral home.

Is that for real? LOL Wowzers, yeah that’ll show em.

But the point is 4 billion headroom is a piddling amount that was no good. The Chancellor ended up with over 20 billion and can breathe easily.

Did Labour have The Proclaimers' song 'I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)' playing in the background when they were thinking of even more ways to shit on refugees?

A 250-mile-away GP appointment is only a 5-minute walk. Why not make it even further away, like the Philippines or Australia? Anyone who believes Labour is in any way the best of a despicable bunch should seek medical attention - preferably not as far away as this poor refugee's GP appointment. Smh

Another own goal by Labour, this small token of compassion to an already persecuted body of people annoyed no one except extreme Reformers, but this unprincipled government ran scared. They have no principles so they have nothing to guide their decision making.

"...Increase the mortality rate of refugees by 12%."

Only 12%? I'm surprised it's not at least twice that amount. The UK government is much more empathetic than I first surmised!

Once again, you hit that pesky refugee nail on its head. If only our leaders had an ounce of the common sense you so abundantly display, Laura, I'm sure everyone in this benighted country would be happier. Except refugees. And a few bleeding heart liberals. More power to your elbow!

Pity the billionaires, they have a hard time figuring out the best way to take care of us all (and there's not enough of us!), not least those amongst us who have darker skin. That's why I sunbathe as much as I can, while the poor brillionaires stay indoors - and up at night, pondering and grovelling, turning paler and paler. Let's hope they won't wither away....

Surely the author means the Labour Government decides rather than the Party?

From Dalia in the heart of Gaza

How can anyone hate winter? It's a passing word, but it carries a lot of pain. I'm Dalia, a mother of two. I'm supposed to enjoy a peaceful life with my children, bringing hot chocolate and movies on the cold winter nights here.I will be looking out of my window and watch the beautiful winter while my babies wear the most beautiful warm clothes.I should have gone to university and complete my shattered dream.Life is harsh; I have to wash clothes by hand, and I have two C-section scars that cause me great pain in this cold, because my children don't have good clothes. There's no rug covering the floor to keep us warm. There's no gas stove to make a hot drink. My husband carries water a long distance so I can wash clothes in this cold. The window is open, so the wind is strong. I'm afraid my children will get sick or that we won't be able to pay the monthly rent.My dream of graduating from university has been shattered. My husband has no job here, and my children have no hope except for you. I truly cannot bear to see my family suffer. So, my friends, you can hate the rain...because it will bring back your tragedy. It will increase my pain...you have seen my suffering for two years and I have not felt comfortable...I'm confident that this winter will be warmer and kinder with you all by my family's side, and I know you are our best supporters.

Please share for my babies
