I would normally ignore any pop film, especially a Disney remake of a Disney ripoff of a violent folk tale, but Laura’s report of an impossible one-star IMDb rating was too curious, so I just now went there and read dozens of user reviews. I’m convinced that most of them are fake. There is a concerted campaign from somewhere to not just discredit this film but to demonize it. It makes no logical sense otherwise. Most Hollywood output is crap, even much of Disney; why is it being treated as some kind of ghastly anomaly? Kids today, and even their parents, are not, as the reviews would have it, devoted lovers of the 1937 version that the reviews are comparing bit by bit as if every child were a cinematography buff. The weirdest comment: “If the parents don't like it, then the kids don't like it either. 5 years old are not paying to watch ridiculous movies.“ Yes, they are. Most of the movies dumped on children today are worse than ridiculous; why is this one film being targeted so viciously? It seems to be the “anti-woke” MAGA crowd, but I’m confused. I sure don’t believe anything I’m reading. Except Laura, of course.

I’m sure Ziegler’s defense of the Palestinians was partially responsible for the film’s failure, I think it was more due to Godot’s “acting”, the Uncanny Valley little people, and the simple fact that NO one asked for this movie
