This ruling didn't change the law, it merely clarified the Equality Act special protections for 'women' and 'girls'. Women are adult females and girls are child females in case you were confused. Well, this was a serious case, brought by For Women Scotland. Without this win, men would count as women for purposes of balance in the Scottish Parliament. Theoretically, the entire body could be made of males: men, and men claiming a "woman identity." There's also the wee matter of male rapists being housed in women's prisons, posing a non-theoretical threat to the women confined there. There are men not only demanding services from rape crisis centers in Scotland, but a man claiming a "woman identity" is even running one of them! I don't think that's true and it shouldn't be assumed. Women aren't beefy amd violent just because they have gone to prison. There are lots of ways to break the law that don't require overwhelming strength. Besides, women are housed in cells with cellmates and once the doors are shut it's just the cellmate and the nighttime clock tick. There is no guarantee that a guard will come and clearly no guarantee that asking to be moved out will be honored. Nor that causing a fight which one is sure to lose will result in being rehoused timely.
Also, there is absolutely no reason to expect that all prisons contain a group of tough beefy murdery women willing to do extra time to collaborate on a "solution". That is a hollywood nice to have wish, which is not how things go. This is super clear from how the stories of these raped women prisoners actually unfold when told in real life.
TIMs are often extra violent even for men. Narcissists often are, because they don't see other people as people. But lots of normal people, which can include criminals (shoplifters, drunk drivers, drug addicts, thieves, lookouts, etc) still would shrink at violence and only be able to slapfight at best. I have a 62 year old friend who recently transitioned. She said she had always felt that she was in the wrong body and now she feels that she is where she should be. She has recently met someone and is in love. I am happy for her. I have known her since she was 16 and I knew then that something was not quite sitting right with her. But even abusing a young boy by interfering with his sex organs development and major-pubertal changes cannot rewind his development to remove the advantages he began developing as soon as the Y chromosome hit the XX of the egg.

I can understand why a man would want to be a woman, like you, I suspect it's mostly psychological and in a tiny percentage, physiological but I don't think it makes them women but it does, sometimes, make them into very good facsimiles of women, in looks but especially, where it counts, in behaviour, so much so that they can 'pass', so in that sense, I suppose they are women, at least in a social context. You know being a woman is sometimes no fun, I've had so many scary/bad experiences in my few decades on this earth, at the hands of men, once at the hands of someone dressed as a man in recent times. In the USA schoolgirls in some states are being forced to have a genital inspections before playing sports. Would you be happy for that to happen to your daughter by a stranger, or worse, a teacher she knows? How does that keep girls safe? You think your stance is so ‘logical’, but it’s definitely not ethical. Fascism is very logical, but not ethical and you’ve fallen for the logic of fascism.
Obviously genital inspections are wrong and stupid. But so is allowing men and boys to play in women's and girl's sports. A women might need to do a spit test once in her life to show that she is a woman, genital tests are uneccessary and are being used as propaganda by Stonewall and the aggressive transactivist movement to show that women should just shut up.
Stonewall tried to change the law to remove hard fought special protections for women. When they realised they couldn't they tried to change the meaning of the word sex to mean gender. And then intimidated those pointing out this wasn't true, biologically or legally and that it had serious consequences for women's rights. It means that not just the 'transitioned' but ANY man (including unrepentent rapists with dicks (and any employment convictions as a man do not show up under a new female identity)) can identify as women and gain full access to women's spaces, sports and jobs- such as in women's prisons, in rape crisis centres and intimate inspections of vulnerable young girls. Would you be happy for this to happen to your daughter. And for her to be told she mustn't complain about it?

Well, this was a serious case, brought by For Women Scotland. Without this win, men would count as women for purposes of balance in the Scottish Parliament. Theoretically, the entire body could be made of males: men, and men claiming a "woman identity." There's also the wee matter of male rapists being housed in women's prisons, posing a non-theoretical threat to the women confined there. There are men not only demanding services from rape crisis centers in Scotland, but a man claiming a "woman identity" is even running one of them! I don't think that's true and it shouldn't be assumed. Women aren't beefy amd violent just because they have gone to prison. There are lots of ways to break the law that don't require overwhelming strength. Besides, women are housed in cells with cellmates and once the doors are shut it's just the cellmate and the nighttime clock tick. There is no guarantee that a guard will come and clearly no guarantee that asking to be moved out will be honored. Nor that causing a fight which one is sure to lose will result in being rehoused timely.
Also, there is absolutely no reason to expect that all prisons contain a group of tough beefy murdery women willing to do extra time to collaborate on a "solution". That is a hollywood nice to have wish, which is not how things go. This is super clear from how the stories of these raped women prisoners actually unfold when told in real life.
TIMs are often extra violent even for men. Narcissists often are, because they don't see other people as people. But lots of normal people, which can include criminals (shoplifters, drunk drivers, drug addicts, thieves, lookouts, etc) still would shrink at violence and only be able to slapfight at best. Especially women.
There's a solid physical reason why women often respond to even the merest hint of male violence by appeasing and freezing. That doesn't mean the psychological aftermath is any less devastating.
If and when women are incarcerated with "unrepentant rapists" I wonder about the incarcerators. The person in that guardian article had had instances of sexual violence outside the jail before they were even incarcerated. It seems insane on the part of the legal system to allow this to happen. Not because the person is trans, but because the person had a history of sexual violence outside of prison.

I have a 62 year old friend who recently transitioned. She said she had always felt that she was in the wrong body and now she feels that she is where she should be. She has recently met someone and is in love. I am happy for her. I have known her since she was 16 and I knew then that something was not quite sitting right with her. Women go through monthly hormonal cycles that further detune their fast-response athleticism and sheer strength in favor of endurance, carrying, and pregnancy maintenance--what strength develops is in relation to their own sex's needs not in relation to the male sex. Their bones fuse earlier, they stop developing up and out and are physiologically "done" while boys are still packing on athletic--fighting--ability for years to come. But even abusing a young boy by interfering with his sex organs development and major-pubertal changes cannot rewind his development to remove the advantages he began developing as soon as the Y chromosome hit the XX of the egg.

The point is that it's not just about the 'transgengered'; it's that any man on any day can decide he's a woman and expect access to women's specially protected spaces and sports and expect women to be forced to accept him. You know being a woman is sometimes no fun, I've had so many scary/bad experiences in my few decades on this earth, at the hands of men, once at the hands of someone dressed as a man in recent times. I asked, "Have you ever met anyone trans?" He hadn't. I pointed out that trans are like 0.004% of the population. They really are not a problem. The intrusion of males into hard-fought women's spaces is hugely regressive, and, quite frankly, it fucks up the fight-back against imperialist war and so much else.
