No matter how relentlessly 'The Shekels' Starmer works to represent Britain as a racist religitard scumbag supremacist genocide war crime land thief child murderer famine supporting embarrassment to every notion of humanity, he forgets: it is the people who make a country Great. Scummy self-serving governments will only ever be scummy, self serving, and bringers of derision and shame.
You may recall the threats of a military coup, in the unlikely event that Corbyn were to get too close to No. 10.
The Greens will get the message. Talk all you want about the environment, immigration, and pronouns, pronouns, pronouns, but do NOT touch Israel or The War On Russia.
The Greens were similarly neutered in germany.
This is why the establishment keep on winning. When faced with a setback, an electoral result that they don't like for instance, they do not throw their hands up in the air and say "well, I guess you guys just won, fair and square!".
Instead, they seamlessly shift to Plan B, they paint the opposition as weak or in thrall to shadowy foreign interests, mutter about dark money somewhere, chase conspiracy theories, sidle up to the new government and cut deals whilst undermining their ability to get anything done, call on the Americans, etc..
When, in aggressive and accusatory fashion, the leader of the Green party was asked why his party had published a pamphlet in Urdu, he did not shrink, or die of embarrassment, or deny that they had, or do any of the blustery things politicians from other parties would have. He simply replied 'To communicate with people who speak Urdu'. It is odd that such a small thing should be recognised as a masterstroke, but Zack Polanski has mastered a weapon that exposes establishment politicians for the slime they are. He doesn't bullshit. He says what he believes, despite the likelihood that some members of his audience might not like it. He stands for something. Halleluja. Moreover, he stands for Britons. Not Israel. Not genocide. Not billionaires. And of course all the sleazebags on the gravy train are going to do anything they can to damage him, and the Greens might themselves piss it all away by suddenly becoming obsessed with some fatuous nonsense, but this bold new strategy - caring for the electorate - is, surely, going to make it harder for establishment slime to stick? Surely governments that have embarrassed their people for so long, and the media that has done nothing to check them, will be seen for the self-serving lie spewing irrelevant parasites they have shown themselves to be? China has shown the world how quickly a government that puts its own people first can transform a country. Let us hope that the straight-talking Mr Polanski can remind Britons that a government that cares for them - all of them - might transform Britain too.
I could not care less about rhetoric. The Greens in germany and elsewhere have similar high-sounding slogans, but they learned that the price of power is slavish support for europe's War On Russia and War For Israel.
Wow - I would just love to be a fly on the wall at the next Labour Friends of Shitrael meeting. Perhaps they will just console themselves with noting that the winning party are lead by a chap who just happens to be Jewish.
The Today programme were promoting the Farage trumpian line that the election was rigged. They were featuring the self proclaimed “independent” election observers “Democracy Volunteers” reports of high amounts of whole family voting. When I dug into this, the reported samples were tiny, and over very short periods, and from their reported methodology, were taken by two teams of two observers. As in other reports, the BBC claimed these observers were “official”.
I would have expected better of the BBC than promoting this poorly evidenced Faragist conspiracy drivel.
And there is nothing to confirm the accusations. No video evidence to review. No right to reply of those accused. How close to the booth does the second person have to get for them to add it to the list? If they were talking about it on the way in to the polling station, does that count? If it was just, a Muslim man and woman arriving together, speaking in Urdu, did that count?
Sadly I’m not surprised at the BBC platforming this. The entire existence of Farage as a cultural phenomenon is down to the BBC’s platforming of him.
I agree with you. The BBC have had an appalling record for promoting Farage and his various privately owned, dubiously financed, limited companies. I am an optimist, always expect better of the BBC, but am almost always disappointed.
Also, their maths doesn’t add up. They cite 32 alleged cases they observed out of 545 they scrutinised. This only comes to 12% if you double it to account for two people in the booth. But it’s logically impossible for two people to simultaneously coerce each other into voting for the same party.
Funnily enough, none of the other election monitoring organisations saw multiple people entering a booth, nor any of the polling booth staff, journalists nor other voters present. As far as I can identify the only prior concerns about “family voting” in British politics were made by Democracy Volunteers, after the conservatives did worse in tower hamlets than they expected.
This very much has the whiff of either American fascist astroturf, or the British version, all those pseudo-impartial fake charities the Labour Party set up to… oh look… smear the left.
What a complete and utter, out of touch nob Starmer is. He definitely should've let Andy Burnham run for the Denton and Gorton by election. But as usual, he made a completely wrong judgement call. When are the labour party going to wake up and accept that Starmer, is a complete and utter liability to the labour party.
There were people in my office talking through the sound logic of his decision to block burnham. Apparently
a) mayoral elections cost money (but, this is money that will have to be spent at the next election anyway. To judge from burnham’s cv he gets elected as mayor once every three years so it’s due up next year anyway)
b) why risk losing both the by-election and the Manchester mayoralty? (Because you’re the party that has held both for a century, if you’re now assuming you’ll lose both this ought really to be telling you something, and delaying the inevitable a year will be of less benefit then trying to fix the problem.)
Starmer has just killed the party to try to preserve his own career for a few more days/weeks/months. That they went along with it (and there is even still apparently a “socialist campaign group” inside the party!) tells you all you ought to need to know.
Fantastic article. Lifted my spirits as did the brilliant victory by Hannah. Good heavens a young female working class plumber entering the halls for the elite entitled careerists beholden to lobbyists and corporate interests? Whatever next, anolishing the monarchy? Or a revolution?
"Hannah’s fiendish strategy involved standing for a party that has actual policies and a leader who cares about ordinary people. Disturbingly, Hannah comes across as a normal human" - the facts are hilarious 😁
Much to his surprise the people of Gorton and Denton pragmatically voted for the politician whose policies they liked the most. It’s so weird how the centrists always accuse leftists of being rigidly tribal and fixed, but their whole argument depends on things like “any Labour government is better than any Conservative government [and these are absolutely the only two possibilities]”.
I don’t think for the same party more than twice in a row, and I’ve been going for, oh, maybe eight general elections now?
2024 manifesto expresses "supporting Ukraine" in resisting the Russian invasion.
Also condemns Hamas for "appalling murder of Israeli civilians".
Both these stances would have been clearly questionable by this time following the complete debunking of the Israeli narrative for Oct 7, as well as the well-documented provocations of the West that caused the Russian Special Military Operation.
This is a crack, not a breakthrough. It doesn’t change everything, the game isn’t won. But it does allow space for water to get through and widen the crack.
I'm pretty sure that they are hard line supporters of gender woo woo too (and have hounded any "gender critical feminists" - also known as feminists - out of the party).
"I do wonder whether the Greens in the UK will escape the fate of their brethren in Europe, who have become part of the establishment themselves, a vaguely wokist, good-thinking, mildly progressive war-supporting home for those temporarily disillusioned with other parties of the Left."
Nowhere in the West are we voting our way out of this. Hostile alien occupation regimes are never on the ballot. You may have a choice of Jewish-supremacism and trannies everywhere or Jewish-supremacism and banning abortion, but whatever you order will come with a side of Jewish-supremacism larger than the main course.
Throughout the 2010s I made a habit of asking every Eastern European I got in a conversation with, who was old enough to be able to answer, whether life was better for ordinary people before or after the fall of communism, and about 2/3 said “before”. I remember one Belorussian lady commenting in particular about how much more freedom they had before. Because under communism there was no private property, so outside the cities you could go anywhere you liked.
This was in Britain: the people I was talking to were people who had been obliged to leave the post-socialist utopias the fall of communism gave them and cross a continent because under capitalism there was no money left at home.
Even the most pro-west person I had this conversation with, a Czech, acknowledged that to live in Prague (by then) a person needed three full-time jobs, which hadn’t been the case before.
I'm more concerned at Trump enforcing American hegemony in the Middle East through it's nuclear-armed, and US-funded proxy, Israel.
The genocide against Gazan Palestinians could only be facilitated by US-enabling war criminals in Tel Aviv.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine takes us back to the 18th and 19th centuries when the "Great Powers" (mostly France, Spain, and Britain) fought each other for hegemonistic supremacy. This included territorial gains - ie, invading other peoples' lands and adding them to Empire.
So you'll excuse me if I view both Russian and Amerika as different sides of the same Imperial Coin.
A Goodwin staffer in Tameside, Adam Mitula's posts online are full of racist caricatures of blacks and Muslims featuring fearmongering and appeals to family values. Other posts include his suggestion that “60-70%” of transgender people were paedophiles, that he would “never touch a Jewish woman”, and use of the n-word. Nevertheless he is accepted as a reasonable choice for tomorrow's Britain.

Keep in mind that the uk political class has two and only two interlocking goals:
1. Keep the Americans happy
2. Get the Americans to fight Russia for them.
Everything else can be jettisoned. Publishing a pamphlet in Urdu does not affect 1. or 2..
The motto of the US Green Party is "People, Planet and Peace." No war. People's needs first. Save the planet.
Hopefully the Green Party UK also has the same as a motto.
I could not care less about rhetoric. The Greens in germany and elsewhere have similar high-sounding slogans, but they learned that the price of power is slavish support for europe's War On Russia and War For Israel.
Well said 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Green has always been the colour of renewal and hope. So lots lots more please.
Rod Dreher is having a meltdown, The End Of Muh Western Civilization.
Wow - I would just love to be a fly on the wall at the next Labour Friends of Shitrael meeting. Perhaps they will just console themselves with noting that the winning party are lead by a chap who just happens to be Jewish.
Oy vey!
Oh that strange and unfamiliar feeling... is it Hope?
Poor old BBC this morning. Didn't know how to pitch it. Just came over as sour…

I have come to expect nothing but state propaganda from the BBC. It’s nice when they too, are handed their arses.
Can't we just proscribe the Greens as an antisemitic antifa t3rrorist group and put things back to normal?
Hannah the marathon runner plumber!

Aww—does Sir Storm Trooper/Kid Starver have a butthurt that a Green Candidate beat his Corporate Clinton NeoLiberal "Labour" Party?
Much to his surprise the people of Gorton and Denton pragmatically voted for the politician whose policies they liked the most. Maybe if Labour wasn't so fucking Hillary Neoliberal, they'd do better!
A mad thought, I admit....
Now, an honest question, how do the Greens stand on the War On Russia?
The election manifesto appears silent, which may or may not be a good thing.
And I got happy for a minute there…😕
So the will of the Establishment still has its iron grip.
Me too 🤦🏻♀️
This is a crack, not a breakthrough. It doesn’t change everything, the game isn’t won. But it does allow space for water to get through and widen the crack.
Of course. Even if, by some miracle the Greens were to walk into No.10 today, they would be quickly brought to heel.
Thanks. About what I expected.
I'm pretty sure that they are hard line supporters of gender woo woo too (and have hounded any "gender critical feminists" - also known as feminists - out of the party).
Found on internet:
"I do wonder whether the Greens in the UK will escape the fate of their brethren in Europe, who have become part of the establishment themselves, a vaguely wokist, good-thinking, mildly progressive war-supporting home for those temporarily disillusioned with other parties of the Left."
Pretty much nails it.

Russia's war on Ukraine is more concerning.
If you want to understand why Eastern Europe rushed to embrace the EU, try talking to Eastern Europeans. They have little trust or love for Russia.
"Strangely", Eastern Europeans have as much love for Russia as Latin Americans do for "gringo" Americans; Arabs for Israel/West, etc.
Superpowers generally have few fans amongst people they attack or instigate "regime change".
Throughout the 2010s I made a habit of asking every Eastern European I got in a conversation with, who was old enough to be able to answer, whether life was better for ordinary people before or after the fall of communism, and about 2/3 said “before”. I have heard and read a number of interviews that reflect the same feelings. Thank you for communicating this.
So you want to get dragged into someone else's ethnic beef.
I'm more concerned at Trump enforcing American hegemony in the Middle East through it's nuclear-armed, and US-funded proxy, Israel.

Russia and Ukraine were at peace until the American sponsored coups.
One of your best.

Who would have guessed, Muslims chose not to vote for racist party. Must be a conspiracy!
Thank you for explaining the results 🤣
