Where there is no moral leadership, followers will be immoral too. Supporting genocide and land theft via starvation is not moral leadership. Israel's prime minister of Britain, the zionist/racist Starmer, is a grotesque embarrassment to the notion of decency.

May her seat remain so uncomfortable that she can't sit on it for the rest of this bloody parliament.

Paul Floyd's avatar

Excellent article. If there is any justice left in this world she would not only lose her seat at the next election but end up with the tenants from hell. Here's hoping.

William Bowles's avatar

The problem is, there is no justice left in this world.

Jane D's avatar

I am cautiously optimistic that justice, common sense and decency can become the rule of law again. When? That's the question.

William Bowles's avatar

I'd just love to believe that you're right, however, what you assert won't just happen all on its own, least of all by this money-grabbing parasite, leach and sociopath. This is the point; capitalism transforms peoples' consciousness, it alienates them from their fellow humans, so the 'law' of capital rules, tough luck eh, just suck it up, that's what the 'Homelessness' [sic] Minister is saying. Basically, she's saying, 'fuck you!'.

when we only vote for Independent candidates. Very easy to fix...

Yes. We are trained by the culture and the media to blame anyone but the ruling class - from birth - so it's no wonder we can't see what is happening.

Nor can we claim our appropriate class identity. If we all could see that as workers we are being exploited then we could change this crappy system with the political stooges ranged against us.

Kevin Donnellon's avatar

Literally nothing surprises me about these self serving corrupt hypocritical bastards now 😡 BUT she is the HOMELESSNESS MINISTER ffs! She has regularly attacked private landlords for exploiting tenants. The hypocrisy stinks.

Isn't capitalism wonderful - for capitalists.

So long as capitalists can afford and are willing to pay for a High Tech Military!

How it bugs my anti-capitalist rear that Pay2Play Politics extends to so-called Justice and Legislative branches of government.....

Wow. That was fascinating. Leave it to a Scandinavian nation to expose the truth.

Hope you got\get to see the whole documentary and preferably with a discussion group at some local community center or House of Worship. If so, also then check out the U. of Tube posted dialogue tween PUSH co-producer Leilani Farhad and Swedish director Fredrik Gertten & some insightful viewers.

Note how they tease out in examining Market Forces (not worshipped as a paganist god as here our amoral starting point in all policy discussions in US on how Social Funds are allocated to Perma-War E-CON "needs" before we house our nation's most vulnerable casualties of Global Libertarianism and not just among the Ruling Elite or Lords of Wall Street "Risk for Thee\Risk-averse for me and my wealth management portfolio...") such savvy speculative market demons, opportunists and their consultants' stratagems.

It takes a 2-party Duopoly to make Pay2Ply or Pay2Play to rule.....or Mislead!

Keep yer eye on the Con....Works pretty much the same both sides of the pond as you Brits have the master filmmaker of Wage Slave Lifers: Mike Leigh and his entire catalogue of drop-dead funny real life views from the home front!

I can't wait for the new film to open here in PoTown, Ore if I have the dough to see it given what a trip to movie house costs now (about what a rock concert used to cost when I was an employed guy at Wells Fargo about 5 lean years ago).

What else would we expect from a member of this CRAP government?

But, but she's a Woman of Colour with an exploited colonial past! You mean that doesn't mean she just naturally has more compassion than the Old White Men of Empire? Surely you jest.

Fair warning: Your government in the UK is getting more like Trumpland by the day. Under the Orange Monster's new staff, our Environmental Protection Agency is devoting itself entirely to destroying the environment, our Department of Health and Human Services to depriving the people of either, our Library of Congress to burning books, our Department of Justice to legalizing injustice, and, in a hilarious act of irony, our Department of Education is shut down for being unnecessary. UK: Don't let this happen to you.

Losing her seat, she'll have to sit in the flat and pay £4000 a month, which she won't afford, so she'll be evicted and sit on the pavement instead. Poor minister!

They get a huge pension for life, after exploiting the electorate even if just for a few months far as I know. She'll never be homeless, or poor, but those with no morals, conscience or ethical

values, will face karma one day.

Great piece (as ever) highlighting a depressing symptom of a system that is rotten to its core. This current government is presiding over the continued financialisation of housing and planning in the UK. Over four decades we've witnessed the privatisation of social housing; now taxpayers are funding millions daily to private landlords who are extorting high rents, exploiting local authority temporary accommodation needs and the scandalous buy-to-let racket. We would save so much money, over the longer term, if a public development corporation could be created to acquire land and develop council homes for councils to own and run, undoing the utter failure and destruction caused by Thatcher's Right to Buy scheme. The upfront cost of this would pay back in the longer term - but the landlord and housebuilder special interest lobby groups want us to think otherwise (and have the ear of Labour, Reform, Conservative and Liberal Democrat politicians who will do what they're told). But we don't have to go along with this. Housing is a public good: let's end the disastrous privatisation of social housing and create a viable and liveable society for all. This should be a priority issue for the new Corbyn/ Sultana party. RANT OVER!

I fully endorse the candidate that has not been selected, by the party that does not exist, co-led by the man who should currently be Prime Minister.

Alan Walker's avatar

Well Laura, she is only taking a lead from her Prime Minister, who is assisting the removal of a whole population from their premises. Only to get more funds (backhanders) from a new tenant. He clearly doesn’t understand that the new tenant will never give up the new premises that they have misappropriated from him.
