Thank goodness for consistency, that's what I say. These days the news is full on snivellers and swivellers all suddenly terrified for their reputation (after contented complicity with mass murder for 20 months), so it's good to see monsters out in the open with no regard for, you know, humanity or outmoded notions of 'justice'. Just the same old vampires sucking blood to transmute into cash. After all money and profit is all we should care about, right (oh, until it happens to us and then we can winge about 'terrorism' and the likes)?

Hmmm only a really evil empire, in thrall to a Jewish lobby, lead by a monster like Trump could so readily ignore the obvious.

Agreed 100% Hope Biden has a bad time with his own Karma. He turned his back on 1000's of murdered innocent victims and enabled the supply of weaponry to the pitiless Jews in the Israeli government.

It may be inappropriate to share the nonsense I encountered in my morning email inbox, but here it is:

"Veto of the United Nations Security Council Resolution on Gaza

Press Statement

Marco Rubio, Secretary of State

June 4, 2025

Today, the United States sent a strong message by vetoing a counterproductive UN Security Council resolution on Gaza targeting Israel. We will not support any measure that fails to condemn Hamas, does not call for Hamas to disarm and leave Gaza, draws a false equivalence between Israel and Hamas, or disregards Israel’s right to defend itself.

Hamas could end this brutal conflict immediately by laying down its arms and releasing all remaining hostages, including the remains of the four Americans they murdered. Many members of the Security Council still refuse to acknowledge this reality and performative efforts like this resolution undermine diplomatic efforts to reach a ceasefire. This resolution would have only empowered Hamas to continue stealing aid and threatening civilians.

The United States will never stop working to free all the hostages. We will continue supporting the delivery of aid to Gaza, without Hamas’ interference, and ensure that Hamas and other terrorists have no future in Gaza. The United States will continue to stand with Israel at the UN. The United Nations must return to its original purpose—promoting peace and security—and stop these performative actions."

I will repeat this festival of false statements for emphasis: "We will not support any measure that fails to condemn Hamas, does not call for Hamas to disarm and leave Gaza, draws a false equivalence between Israel and Hamas, or disregards Israel’s right to defend itself." I'm now going to find a strong antiemetic...........

Just because a purpose has been subverted doesn't mean the purpose is at fault. BRICS want to reform the UN or make their own. One without any vetoing nations and one not based in NY. It could work.

I totally agree!

UN on paper has a just purpose.

But the fact some countries have veto power for issues like genocide, international crimes is a perversion of the original purpose!

And plus those countries are also guilty of international crimes, so they are not respecting the standards that themselves require of others.

Definitely time to revise the UN. It has to be a global collective effort to overcome this egregious and unforgivable corruption.

“Hamas could quickly rearm with medicines and baby food”.

This is a more literally true explanation than you might (reasonably) expect. Years ago, during Cuba’s “special period”, when most Cubans were malnourished and deprived thanks to the US blockade, I shipped boxes of supplies to families in Cuba through Canada. They contained children’s vitamins, children’s socks and underwear, and bilingual children’s books with terrorist subjects like the alphabet. I was harassed by the US State Department, the government of Canada, and the private shipping company(!), threatened by each with prosecution, the charge being “aiding the enemy”. I guess we’re afraid of invasion by armies wielding sock slingshots shooting vitamin pills. Or, as in Gaza, we’re afraid of the children growing up, because they might not like us enough. (I was never prosecuted, and the boxes arrived, although they had obviously been searched).

Quite right: when you're out there on SocMed surrounded by Jewish supremacists and their apologists tapping out "All Hamas has to do is free the hostages" respond that all civilian hostages were offered back on the 9-10/10/23 but israel refused.

The UN cannot have a dictatorship. It must be reformed. The institution of a veto makes the UN meaningless.

A criminal State protecting another criminal genocidal state that has zero "right to exist", ordering the world around, OWNING the world, literally. How is that even possible? What is this BS about "equaling Israel with Hamas", why is white supremacism allowed, why Rubio is allowed to say openly racist things like that Jewish lives cannot be compared to "Arabs" and that Palestinians are "mostly terrorists"?

And at the same time, the US elevates Palantir to make us all into one Gaza ghetto?

Expand full comment
Maria Fuencisla de Felipe's avatar

In fact, as far as the veto power exists, the UNO’s Security Council deliberations are merely symbolic.

Lena's avatar

yes, this is what I am saying. Imagine a veto power oligarch that would veto all prosecutions of serial rapists.

It is criminality in power, total mafia rule over the entire world.

Only fakes are perpetuated, like the criminalization of Milosevic, Assad or Putin.
